Digitize the German midmarket with us as a (Senior) Engineer AI / Machine Learning R&D (m/f/d)
LAY FOUNDATIONS. ENSURE EFFICIENCY.
- Development, adaptation and evaluation of open-source LLMs and generative models (e.g. LLaMA baselines, Mistral, Mixtral, Stable Diffusion, VLMs)
- Design and implementation of agent systems incl. tooling, memory strategies, routing logic and MCP-based interactions
- Setup of experimental pipelines, benchmarks and test environments for model performance, safety and robustness
- Prototyping of new features, functionalities and AI-supported use cases
- Collaboration with research & engineering teams to transition prototypes into stable systems
- Documentation, knowledge transfer and active contribution to internal open-source communities
- Translation of requirements into prototypes and scalable service solutions
- Performance optimization of models and algorithms for productive real-time environments
- Co-design of an AI orchestration layer for systematic control of distributed AI components in enterprise architectures
- Contribution to a powerful, future-ready AI architecture within the platform strategy
- Development of technical solution concepts for scalable, context-aware AI applications
- Selection of suitable tools, technologies and frameworks balancing open source, security and scalability
- Close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams from data science, software engineering, product and project management
- Consulting and enablement of colleagues and client teams in developing and using AI services
- Communication of complex technical content to stakeholders at various levels
- Active knowledge sharing within and beyond the team

- Proven experience in leading R&D teams in the field of Artificial Intelligence
- Solid expertise in machine learning, deep learning and MLOps
- Experience in developing and implementing AI systems for enterprise environments
- Familiarity with modern open-source technologies and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubernetes)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts clearly
